What do you think? Out with 2008 in with 2009….

Can you believe 2008 is almost over and 2009 is about to start? This year went quickly for me. Looking back, it was full of ups and down. Actually, for me, it was more up than down.
This is probably going to be a very short blog–for one specific reason: I want you to share your thoughts and comments with me.
What are you expecting to happen in 2009? What are your desires, your passions, the things you want to change, or the things you want to do? I really want to see what is on your hearts.
I honestly think, 2009 is going to be a turn around year for me. I believe God is going to do some awesome, amazing things this new year.
What about you?
Blessings
Happy 2009!

I have seen the will of God being done.
I will continue to see the will of God being done.
There are many things that will happen next year. But to expect those things and be completely satisfied is expecting too little of God in all of His majesty, power and grace.
To more eloquently put it, C.S. Lewis states from his book “The Weight of Glory”:
““Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
Just like all of creation in Romans 8 expects that this would be the moment when the curse of sin will be lifted, so too we should expect always to see the glory of God.

I too am excited about 2009. Not because 2008 was bad, but because I think 2009 is going to continue to bring about change for me personally and in the body of Christ.
I see the church continuing to return to those things she is called to be. To provide hope rather than condemnation, to provide safety rather than persecution, and to reach out to those in need. Whether it be the poor, the orphan, the widow as Scripture says or providing real, tangible help to those caught in the sex trafficking industry, slavery, or those who are dying from lack of clean water.
I also hope to see the church not only take on these international issues, but to seek to be the living good news to those in our own neighborhoods as well.
I am excited, because I know that my vision is too small compared to His, and I am amazed that He allows me to play a small part in His story.
