Luke 18:13 God, be merciful to me, a sinner!

Who am I in Christ?

July 17th, 2009 by Michael (1) Encouragement,Evangelism

How many of us walk in the past? What do I mean by that? I mean how many of us still hold on to things that happened in the past? I struggled with this alot and really just got alot of freedom in this area. How did I do it? I simply found out what it means to be in Christ. See God already did all the work with us. He forgave us, reconciled us, and redeemed us. We just need to take a step and strip off the clothes of the past and put on the clothes of Jesus! ESV Gal. 3:26-27

List below is all about who we are in Christ.  Hope this will bring some freedom!

I am a/the…………….

  • salt of the earth (Matt. 5:13)
  • light of the world (Matt 5:14)
  • child of God (John 1:12)
  • part of the vine (John 15:1,5)
  • slave of righteousness (Rom. 6:18)
  • a saint (Eph. 1:1, 1 Cor. 1:2, Phil. 1:1, Col. 1:2)
  • God’s workmanship (Eph. 2:10)
  • a fellow citizen with all of the Lord’s family (Eph. 2:19)
  • prisoner to Christ, slave to Him (Eph 3:1, 4:1)
  • made righteous and holy because of Him (Eph. 4:24)
  • hidden with Lord ( Col. 3:3)
  • chosen by the Lord ( Col. 3:12, 1 Thess. 1:4)
  • son of light (1 Thess. 5:5)
  • partaker of His calling (Heb. 3:1)
  • a marked man and enemy of Satan (1 Pet. 2:11)
  • child of the Most High (1 John 3:1-2)
  • joint heir w/Christ (Rom. 8:17)
  • temple of the Lord’s (1 Cor. 6:17)
  • one with Him (1 Cor. 6:17)
  • a new creation in Him (2 Cor. 5:17)
  • son of God (Gal. 3:26,28)
  • reconciled to God (2 Cor. 5:18-19)
  • member of Christ’s body (1 Cor. 12:27, Eph. 5:30)

We are a pretty big deal to God. He call us friend and sons. ESV Gal. 4:1-10 speaks of sonship. I believe the Lord really wants us to get how much we mean to Him. We listen to the world and the enemy too much. I’m tired of walking down that road—aren’t you???

Romans 8:4-8 Part 3: Faith in God Alone

July 14th, 2009 by Joseph Louthan (1) Bible Study: Romans

It is Romans 1:17 boldly declares, “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” If you view your faith as in how the Word of God declares it to be and you properly view worship to God, not in just the singing part of Sunday morning, but the reading of the Word, the driving to and fro to our jobs, the fellowship with believers and non-believers, the time we spend with our spouse and our children and the way we boldly proclaim the gospel of God in deed and in word.

Romans 8:4-8 Part 1: From Total Depravity…

June 23rd, 2009 by Joseph Louthan (0) Bible Study,Bible Study: Romans

Take verses 5-8 and lets talk about what it means to not belong to Christ:

For those who live according to the flesh have set their minds on the things of the flesh, you are hostile to God, you do not and cannot submit to God’s law and it is impossible for you to please God. You are going to die.

Romans 8:3-4: The Great Exchange

June 7th, 2009 by Joseph Louthan (0) Bible Study,Bible Study: Romans

Last time we met, we broke down the first half of Romans 8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. Essentially we answered “What has God done?”, “If the law was not weakened, could the law fulfill what God has accomplished in His gospel?” and “How did the flesh, sin and essentially, us, weakened the law?” Now that we have answered those questions, let us put everything together and see what we get.

Romans 8:3a What has God done?

May 20th, 2009 by Joseph Louthan (0) Bible Study,Bible Study: Romans

In the overabundance of God’s love, all heavens and the earth, the stars, sun, moon, sea and land, animals and plants and you and me are the tithes of God’s love.  God’s offering is doing what nothing else, not even His law, could do: redeem us.

Romans 8:2 God Is All Powerful

May 12th, 2009 by Joseph Louthan (0) Bible Study,Bible Study: Romans

It was in God’s omnipotence, that is God has all power and all ability to carry out all of His decrees.  One of His decrees is clearly stated in Romans 8:2, namely “Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.“  So how does God “set you free… from sin and death”?

We will expound on Romans 8:2 using a glimpse God’s power and might in Psalm 139:12-17 and what He does with that power in Psalm 139:19-24 in order to break you free from sin and death.
